eMAG FBE or your own courier
FBE means your stock sits in eMAG's warehouse and ships from there. You pay a processing fee from 3.40 RON per unit plus storage, and you gain delivery speed, visibility in the “delivered by eMAG” filter and, most likely, Genius eligibility. Own delivery has no per-unit fee, but you pay the courier, the packing and the time — and at peak you are the bottleneck. The simple rule: fast-moving and small, FBE wins; bulky, slow-moving or needing special handling, stay with your own courier.
What we know for certain about FBE cost
The processing fee starts from 3.40 RON per unit. Worth saying plainly that eMAG contradicts its own pages: the FBE page says 3.40 RON, the taxes and commissions page says “from 3.99 RON”. The FBE page looks more recent. Both: eMAG Marketplace Infocenter, checked September 2026.
30 days free storage on initial replenishment. After that the tariff varies with stock age and space occupied — and there is no public table. The cost simulator sits behind the seller login. If someone shows you an FBE tariff table by weight tier, they made it up.
FBE delivers to three countries: Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary, from a network of over 240,000 m² of warehouse. Source: eMAG Marketplace, FBE page.
The promotional period with no processing, storage or return fees ended on 31 January 2026. If a guide presents it as current, it's out of date.
What FBE actually buys you
Visibility. Buyers filtering for “delivered by eMAG” see FBE listings. eMAG states this on its own FBE page.
Better rating. Faster delivery improves your account rating — also an official eMAG statement.
eMAG handles returns. Parcels are collected from the customer by eMAG. For unsealed or opened products you're notified to collect them from the warehouse.
Genius: probable, not officially confirmed. Romanian secondary sources present FBE as the main route to Genius eligibility. eMAG's own FBE page doesn't say so and doesn't mention Buy Box at all. We treat it as likely, not as fact.
When you keep your own courier
Bulky or heavy products, where storage per cubic metre eats you.
Products that move slowly. Storage is charged every month whether you sell or not. Stock sitting six months in eMAG's warehouse is a loss that grows on its own.
Products needing special handling, personalisation, assembly or made-to-order packing.
When you already have working logistics that are paid for. With a warehouse, people and a courier contract, FBE adds a cost without removing one.
When you want control of the experience: your own packaging, a note in the box, different treatment for good customers. In FBE your parcel looks like everyone else's.
How to decide, practically
Take your 20 best sellers and, for each, work out how many times the stock turns in a year. Above six turns, FBE almost certainly wins. Below three, it almost certainly doesn't.
It isn't a binary account-level decision. Keep the fast small movers in FBE and ship the rest yourself. Most large sellers do exactly that.
Before Black Friday the question changes: you're no longer comparing costs but comparing your ability to ship five hundred parcels in a day with theirs. If that thought worries you, FBE stops being an option and becomes insurance.
In short
FBE is not cheaper. It's faster and more visible, and storage makes it expensive for exactly the products that sit still. Decide on stock turnover, product by product, not account by account.
